Te Kura o Onewhero

Athletic Sports

Athletics Sports Day is in the final term. It involves both the Junior and Senior Schools, and so is a fun family day for all. For all events, not just Athletics, students belong to one of four specific houses: Hillary, Ngarimu, Rutherford and Te Kanawa.

Team Sports

Participation in team sports is encouraged - soccer, netball, cricket, rugby...

Swimming Sports

The Swimming Sports are held in the first term. Our swimming pools are community-based, and used by one and all over the summer months. Contact the school for details.

Cross Country

Cross country races are held in the third term - for the whole school. The course is through tracks, streams, lakes, swamps and local farms geneously tolerated by the local farming community.

Speech Festival

Speech Festival is held under the auspices of the English Department. It encourages confidence in oracy skills.

Calf Day and Gala Day

Calf Day is in the final term of the year, and has been going for over 60 years now. It involves calves, lambs, kids (in the goat sense) and chickens. These days, it is usually associated with a gala day.

Camps

Various Camps for various groups occur throughout the year: Leadership, Middle School, Water Days....

Musicals and Concerts

Every second year a musical is staged, and every other year concerts featuring all the arts are held. The close proximity and working relationship with OSPA is a great help.
