Dear Parents
Staffing
I am delighted to be able to inform you that we have welcomed Mrs Andrew to the staff of the school this week. Mrs Andrew is working in Room One for most of this term, with Mrs Baldwin and Mrs McLean.
Access to the school
I would like to remind everyone that access to the main school office is now either down the corridor from the eastern end or off the paved area next to the Lab. Mr Fenton’s office will be located next door to this temporary office.
Phone, fax and email access will remain the same, but there will be no EFTPOS facility until further notice. Please bear with us as our valuable office staff are having to work in a very restrictive work area and under difficult conditions.
We are hopeful that this situation will only last for about 5 weeks before a final move into the new area.
A blessing of the new building will take place on Monday 25 May at approx 5:45am. The official opening will take place some time later in the year.
Help
If you have finished with those Roald Dahl books of yours at home, we could make good use of them here.
We are particularly keen to get hold of a copy of “The Twits” and “Fantastic Mr Fox” but any copies of any titles would be appreciated. Please drop them off at the office for Miss Caldwell.
Car Boot Sale
As a fund raiser for the Student Council, there is to be a car boot sale held on the school grounds on Saturday 9 May, starting at 9:00am. Prepay your spot by booking at the office for just $10.00. Coffee, tea and cakes will be available along with a sausage sizzle. All funds will go towards the school ball.
PTA
There will be a meeting of the PTA committee at 7:30pm on Wednesday 13 May in the Food Technology Room.
Forty Hour Famine
We were fortunate to have Leah Orams from World Vision at school on Monday to talk with the students about the upcoming forty hour famine. Leah told the students that there were various ways of supporting the famine - going without food for a period of time being just one of the ways. Others were going without technology of one form or another, or even going without talking. Students who wish to sign up to help raise money must first get approval from home and then will be given a record book. The famine weekend is 22 to 24 May, and all money raised must be in school by the end of the term (July 3). Last year the school raised just over $1000 and it would be good to think we can do better this year.
This year the money will be going to support children’s education and food supply in selected African and Asian countries.
Junior Social
The Student Council is hosting a social for junior students on Friday 22 May, starting at 6:00pm. It will finish as 8:00pm and will be an opportunity for young students to have a great time together.
Junior students are those from Year 1 to Year 6. Cost will be $3 per child and $5 for two in a family and $6 per family of 3 or more.
The evening will begin with a sausage sizzle ($1.50) so that you can have a rest from making dinner. Drinks (20c) and snacks will be available for sale during the evening.
