Dear Parents
On Monday this week, we were very pleased to welcome a large number of visitors (former staff members, parents and members of the community) to the school, all of whom came to help us officially open the newly refurbished Administration block. As the weather was unsettled, we conducted the main event in the Hall, but the Mayor Mark Ball, accompanied by Joe Lorimer (youngest student in the school) and Alyssa Bruce (Head Student) led the way to the building and cut the ribbon to sanction the use of the building.
As a result, all the building is now in use. Access for parents and visitors is now through the new main door, which opens into the large foyer area. When you visit, please note the two magnificent pieces of art work, one by Jan Vodanovich commemorating Waata Kukutai’s contribution to the area and one by Naina Sariman-Henderson, showing the Vivian Falls, a local landmark.

Phone system
Now that we are in the new admin area, the phone system has been reconfigures to suit the new arrangements. Phone access is as follows:

Updating information
Could all parents please ensure that the contact information we hold here is accurate and up to date. We have already had some instances this week when we have tried to contact parents only to find that numbers have changed or have been discontinued.
A call to the office, or a quick visit would be really useful.
Examination Fees
The fees for the external examinations for students in Years 11, 12 and 13 will be due soon. The fee this year is $75 per student and will need to be paid to the school by the end of August. A separate letter will be sent out shortly.

Calf Club
With the winter comes the start of the Calf Club season. I would like to remind all students and parents that animals (calves, lambs and goats) which are going to be entered into this year’s Calf Cub competition, must be born on or after the 1 July 2009. Animals born earlier than 1 July are not eligible for the competition.
A meeting of the Calf Club committee will be held on Tuesday 4 August, in the staffroom at 7:30pm. This will be to begin the organisation for this year’s Calf Club event.
