Dear Parents

Hats at school

I would like to remind all parents that the wearing of hats will be compulsory for all students from Years 1 to 6 from the start of the next term. There are two styles of hat available through the school office.

When purchasing a hat, it will be very important to have that hat named. Could parent please make sure that all hats are named at the time they are purchased, and that the names are checked periodically to make sure they are still legible.

Onewhero School Ball

We are holding a school ball on Saturday October 10, from 7:30pm to 11:00pm All students from Year 10 to 13 are welcome and ex-students under 20 years of age are also invited. Entry is by ticket only and tickets are now on sale from $35 per person. Contact Jasmine, Ayla or Tasha at school. Tickets will be available from the school office during the days October 5 to 9, from 9am to 12 noon.

Advance notice

The Board of Trustees has approved a teacher only Day for Tuesday October 27. This will enable staff members to further their planning for the implementation of the new curriculum.

Calf Club

Raffle $2 a ticket or 3 for $5 available from Office.

Silent auction for trough from Hynds Pipes. 1 circular or oblong water trough. Place your bid at the school office.

Calf Club day will be on Thursday 15 October, starting at 2pm. Further details will be sent out early in Week 1 of Term 4.

An Evening with Lynda Hallinan

The Editor of NZ Gardener (and ex-student) is coming here for a night of irreverence and inspiration, sharing with local gardeners and those interested her knowledge and expertise.

Tickets are just $15 and are available from the school office. Help us celebrate spring with wine and nibbles, raffles, spot prizes and gardening giveaways.

Sports Co-ordinator 10 hrs pw

We are wanting to appoint a sports co-ordinator for 2010. This person will continue to build and enhance sporting opportunities for those students attending Onewhero Area School.

Push Play

A Push Play promotion is being held on the Bledisloe fields and Netball courts in Pukekohe on Sunday October 11. An opportunity for people of all ages to experience new games and take this opportunity to get active. For further information, phone the Netball Centre.

Onewhero Family Riding Group

The season has started again for horse lovers. The next rally is Saturday 26th at 3pm at the reserve and thereafter rallies will be Tuesday evenings from 5.30 – 7.00pm. Please contact the secretary, Sharon if you want further information, here

Franklin Polocrosse

Polocrosse practices will be held at Mercer this season with the first practice on Sunday the 27th September at 11am – 3pm. If you want further information about this fun equestrian pursuit then email Sharon here or ring Jemma on 2334499

Tee Ball

We are looking for team mates aged 5 to 9 for an under 8’s and under 11’s tee ball team. We intend to practice in Tuakau one night a week at 3.45ish, practice is one hour on a Wednesday or Friday (to be comfirmed). Games at 9 – 10am Saturday mornings at Mountfort Park, Manurewa, against other teams in the Manurewa Mets Club. Uniforms provided. The Tee Ball season runs from start term four, breaks for the Christmas holidays and finishes end of term one. Car pooling for practices and games is available.

We need to know how many are keen to join our team so we can get our team registered with the club and practices started. Please register your interest to Adrienne on 236 9897 or Bridget on 232 8250 as soon as possible before September 30th.

Help

We are currently collecting clothing, shoes, blankets, and any household items to package up and sent to a remote village in Fiji. Also if anyone has anything that could be sold to raise money for the postage and packaging it would be greatly appreciated. We are looking at holding a big garage sale mid October for this.
