Dear Parents

Soccer Team Raffle

Over several weeks, the soccer teams have been selling raffle tickets to help support the cost of their team shirts for this season. The raffle was drawn on Friday last, and the winner was Mrs Flesher, Te Kohanga, ticket #112

Calf Club

Despite the wet weather, the day went ahead and was concluded very successfully. The judges, indoor and outdoor, all commented on the standards of presentation and the winners are well justified in being proud of their efforts.

It is worthy of mention that we had a record number of entries this year – over 90 students participated in the outdoor section of the day, with a record number of calves.

The full results of the day are attached to this newsletter.

Franklin Primary Schools Push/Play marathon

As part of the Push/Play campaign in Franklin, our Year 1 to 8 students have been working on improving physical fitness and achieving personal success by running a few laps each day over eight to ten weeks.

This is enabling students to complete 40km of a marathon distance by Sunday November 29. On that day, the last 2.195 kms will be run in Pukekohe, if students and parents want to complete the challenge.

One parent or caregiver is allowed to run with the child on the day, and all children who finish will get a medal.

There is a $5 entry fee to cover the cost of the medal and the school will be taking entries from November 1st to 15th.

The start will be at the Pukekohe Junior Rugby fields (Colin Lawrie Fields). The programme for the day is that race numbers can be collected from 9am and the race briefing will be at 9:45am, with a staggered start at 10:00am.

The route will be Reynolds Rd, left into Franklin Rd, to finish with one lap of the Bayer Rugby Stadium.

There is a $500 sports voucher for the school with the most entries (calculated on participation to school size ratio) and a $500 spot prize.

Our teachers are keeping a record of the distance run by each student each day and monitoring progress towards the 40km goal.

Hats at school

Hats are now compulsory for all students from Years 1 to 6 and are available through the school office.

Could parents please make sure that all hats are named at the time they are purchased, and that the names are checked periodically to make sure they are still legible.
