National Standards
As you would have heard or read through the media National Standards for Years 1-8 will be introduced into New Zealand schools over the next two years.
The aim is to raise overall competency in Maths, Writing and Reading. Parents and teachers will work closely together to help improve every child’s learning. Reporting on your child’s progress will be against the National Standards.
Our school is a pilot school for the new standards in 2010. We had our first introductory meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

Miranda Hot Springs Trip
Room 5, 6 and 12 had a fabulous day at Miranda Hot Pools. The children were exceptionally well behaved and a credit to our school and community. Even the Miranda staff and visitors to the pools mentioned how well behaved our students were.
The day started out very overcast but ended up being lovely. The children swam nearly the whole time we were there, with a quick stop for lunch.
Congratulations to
Ricky and Chloe Bingham who have had a very sucessful season with their calves at calf club and group day. They also participated at the Clevedon A&P Show on Saturday. Chloe in the Junior Ring with her calf Ginger Nut won a 1st for Leading,1st in Rearing, 2nd in type and won Reserve Champion. Ricky in the Intermediate Section with his calf Dude won a 1st in Leading,3rd in Rearing and won Champion Leading Calf. Awesome work.

Damage to Vehicle
On Tuesday morning a red car backed across the road out the front of the school and hit a Blue Hilux between 9.00am and 10.00am. The parent who owns the Hilux is extremely upset as whoever did this did not leave a note or try and make any contact through the school. The owner of the Hilux would like the person who did this to contact them on 09 2334188 or if you wish contact the school and speak to Greg Fenton the Principal confidentially.
