Dear Parents
Last Day
We will be closing for the year on Friday December 11th at 12.30pm. Buses will run at this time. The reason for this closure time is to fit in with the Tuakau College bus runs.
Prize Giving
You are all invited to attend our 2009 Prize giving on Thursday December 10th at 7.00pm in the School Hall. Students are requested to be at the Hall by 6.50pm as they all have to be seated in class groups.
Canteen Weekly Special
The special for the week to Thurs 10 December is Hamburgers –cost $3.00
Please note that the last day the canteen is open for 2009 is Thursday 10th December. There will be limited stock all week so you may not get your first preference but will get something.
Push Play Marathon
Thank you to all our parents and seventy two students who turned up in drizzly conditions last Sunday to complete the final 2 kilometres of the Marathon that we have been training for this term. Many spectators commented on the large contingent of blue shirts representing Onewhero.
Fortunately it stopped raining once the Marathon began and our school was lucky enough to start first. It was great to see parents and children running together and finishing with big smiles. Everybody completed the run which proved the daily training was worthwhile.
Thanks to all who took part and because we had the highest number of competitors enter, the school won $500.00 to spend on Sports gear.
Reports
Reports for all students from Year One to Year Ten will be posted out on Friday. If you have not received them by Wednesday 9th December please contact the school.
Christmas Parade
The school is entering a float in the Tuakau Christmas Parade on Saturday 5th December. The parade begins at 3.00pm.
Cricket Coaching
On Wednesday this week a number of our classes took part in cricket coaching sessions. It is always good to get special hints and practise some techniques with coaching experts. Each class learnt lots of new skills.

Missing
Missing school sweat shirt. Size 10 with the name Amy van den Berg inside. Please return this to the office if you have it.
Head Lice
It has come to our attention that head lice are back again. We are asking that all parents examine their child’s hair for signs of lice infection. The lice themselves are often hard to find because they move around on the head. Therefore, you should be looking for the eggs. These appear as tiny silvery white specks attached to the hair shaft near the scalp. Dandruff and hairspray may look similar but these are easily brushed away, the eggs are not.
Hearing Thoughts
I looked around the trees and saw the world’s most exciting view. Tons of ideas popped into my head like the speed of light. Sky diving, hunting, fishing and motor cross could be all done here. High mountains, fresh air, steep slopes and cloudy skies.
Alaska what a wonderful place, it’s a cold place but that is not going to stop me from doing all of these things. Maybe I should build a house here and every summer I should return to this awesome place.
Wait! What is that? Black Bears, fierce, big, tall and strong. Lucky I am an expert in these things, I practically live with bears. They must be able to smell the meat on me. They are close. They are nearly in front of me. I better give them some of my polony sandwich otherwise they might tear me to shreds.
Look at them, they are scoffing my lunch. It doesn’t matter though. But wait a minute, I’m surprised they are not standing up on their hind legs and growling at me. It’s actually quite nice here. I guess I am here to stay.
