Dear Parents
Staffing
I regret to inform you that Mr Kelaiditis has to take time off from teaching as his knee injury is causing on-going problems. His position will be taken by Miss Katharine Smyth, an experienced teacher, who will start in school on Monday 9th March.
We wish Mr Kelaiditis well in his rehabilitation.
Parent Interviews
On Thursday 19 March, we will be hosting the first of our parent interview sessions for 2009.
Could all parents please complete the form at the bottom of this newsletter and return it to school by Monday 9th March to request a time for an interview. Please note that interviews:
- are for ten minutes each
- start at 3:40pm and go through until 7:30pm
- senior (Yr 11-13) students are required to attend with parents
- please indicate more than one time slot as it is not always possible to give people their first choice
- Parents will be notified on Tuesday 17th by letter of the time you have been allocated
School Swimming Sports
The school sports were held yesterday and were conducted in a friendly spirit of competition and fun.
The results of the championships were as follows:
Boys:

The day went well and we were really pleased with the performance of many of the students and the overall level of participation.
Boy’s Soccer Team
Calling all boys from Year 9 to Year 13 who are interested in playing soccer. We are starting training on Wednesday afternoon from 3 to 5pm. No boots required. For more details talk to Alex, Jack, Bryn or Glenn. Limited transport back to Tuakau is available (on application!).
Swimming Sports
The River Group Sports will be held tomorrow 10:00am and will involve the big pool swimmers from Years 3 to 6. We would welcome offers of help as we run this day. Timekeepers are our particular need. If you can assist please ring the school to speak with Judy (extension 708).
There will be a stall selling drinks ($1) and sausages ($1.50) as well as filled rolls during the lunch break. The day will be over by about 2pm.
Greenie Awards
At the assembly this week the following student names were drawn from the box:
Kowhai Kani and Heidi Grainger (both in Rm 12, Yr 7).
Both students have a lunch voucher to spend at the canteen.
Bible in Schools
Due to the increase in numbers of students and classes, we need lots of teachers and helpers to work in the Bible in Schools Programme. If you are willing please contact me – Helen 232 8883 or Deborah 232 8522.
Training is provided – as is a great time and lots of fun.
Gifted and Talented Students
A seminar for talented and gifted students is to be held at the Selwyn College in Kohimarama from 15 to 22 April. For more information, see the flyers at the school office.
