We are hosting an information evening about the NCEA qualification system, and the processes that are involved. This will be held on Thursday 26 March at 7pm, in the Library. All parents are welcome, and it is especially relevant to parents and students in Years 9 to 13.
Swimming Sports
On Tuesday this week a group of five swimmers represented us at the Year 7 and 8 Franklin Zone swimming sports. They were Celine Fenton, Lucas Dawson, Tyler Young, Ben Edmonds and Leo Allely. Celine and Lucas both won through to finals and Celine was placed third in the Breaststroke final. Congratulations to all these swimmers on their fine effort.
Student Council
During last week the classes and their teachers were asked to nominate students to represent them on the Student Council. The following students have been put forward:
Year 7: Ben Edmonds and Cassandra Jobin
Year 8: Alec Henderson and Max Crystal
Year 9: Monica Lovatt and Ashleigh Schut
Year 10: David Creed and Roseanne Andrews
Year 11: StaceyLee Tapaevalu
Year 12/13: Alyssa Bruce and Falyne Laker
The first fundraising activity for the student council this year is a sausage sizzle being held in Break 2 on Wednesday 25th March 2009.
School email address
It came to my attention last week that the school email address we had advertised (admin@onewhero.school.nz) did not actually connect to anyone. The address has now been changed (see newsletter header above) and should now be much more effective.
I apologise for any inconvenience or confusion.
Family Variety Show
A number of Onewhero students will be appearing on stage in the new OSPA production, “A Family Variety Show” on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th March. Among the performers are Bradley Vuglar and Lorraine Sariman-Henderson who will be performing the short play, “Dog Accident.” Lorraine has directed this play and will also perform a self-penned monologue.
A number of other students will also be performing in the plays, “Lady Lollipop” and “The Ballad of Ironbark Road” (which has been written and directed by Mr Jordan). These students include Joe Allely, Jamie Newman-Watt, Nicola and Sean Burrows, Paige van Vught, Evie and Lilli Moth, Finn O’Keeffe, Tuene Henderson, Erin Wagstaff and Georgia Young.
