Dear Parents

Respect

At this week’s assembly, the following students were presented with certificates recognising the respect they have demonstrated:

Rebecca Stokes: displaying good manners, politeness and consideration.
Room 11: the class is displaying continued respect to their teacher and to each other.

Help!!

In the aftermath of Anzac Day, we are keen to keep a record of the servicemen of the district on our website. We have a list of those who lost their lives in World War One from the memorial by the school's flagpole and have started the process of adding more information about these people. But we have hit a brick wall with three of the names. Can anyone help with information about F (Frank) Box, C. Havrey and C. Thompson? We have assessed information from the War Memorial Museum archives, but can find nothing at all about Mr Box, and there are numerous servicemen under the names of Harvey and Thompson. Anything that will help us identify the correct ones would be very useful. If there are photos of these men, that too would be very useful.

PTA Meeting

There will be a meeting of the PTA at 7 pm on Tuesday 11 May in the staffroom. The meeting will be to discuss the results of the survey about the possibility of combining Calf Club and gala day and pursuing other plans for the year. All are welcome to attend.

AFS Student hosting

The AFS organisation is keen to place at least one of two students in this area on a short term stay. Both students are boys and come from France. The boys will be in New Zealand from July to September and are 15 years of age.

The hosting experience is very rewarding for both hosts and the students involved as both learn a lot about the others culture. More information is available from the school or from the AFS website.

World Vision 40 Hour Famine

This week a number of students have expressed an interest in supporting the World Vision 40 hour famine. The process we use in school is that students gain permission from parents before being issued a sponsorship booklet. Once the famine is complete, the students are encouraged to collect the sponsorship money as quickly as they can and bring it to school. The last day for this to happen is June 25.

This year there is the possibility of classes doing the famine as a class group. More details will be forthcoming from the teachers concerned.

If parents have any concerns or questions about the famine, then either look on the website or ring the school and ask to speak to Mr Rowe.

School Production

The school production this year is "Follow That Rabbit". It is based on the story of Alice in Wonderland. We are looking for some people who would be prepared to help with some sewing of costumes. Could you please contact the school office if you would be prepared to give us some assistance in this area. We are also looking for an old sleeping bag, preferably blue.

Pukekohe Family looking to Carpool

We live in Pukekohe and have 1 daughter (aged 15) at Onewhero Area School. We are looking for another Pukekohe family who could carpool with us (ideally Thia would be taking our daughter and we’ll share the petrol costs, as we have a backseat taken up with child carseats, so very limited room) but we’re open to discussing different ways that this could be mutually beneficial. Please Phone Jacqui asap on 2392524 or 0277334084.
