Dear Parents
Respect
At this week’s assembly, the following students were presented with certificates recognising the respect they have demonstrated:
Troy Welch (Yr 8 Rm 12) displaying respectful attitude to his teacher’s work and behaviour expectations.
Kyle Turnwald (Yr 8 Rm 11) showing respectful and mature attitude as a Year 8 student.
School Reports
In recent weeks the staff members of the school have been engaged in staff training focussing on the new curriculum and the national standards. One of the key elements of this work has been to re-design our written school reports to better reflect the National Standards and the demands of the new curriculum.
This is a very involved task but as a result of many hours of effort we have new report forms which will be ready for use in the mid year reporting cycle.
This year, as required by the Ministry, we are reporting in writing twice a year for all students. The reporting cycle is slightly later than normal to allow time to do last minute adjustments to the reports and all parents can expect to see the reports early in the second week of Term 3.
We will be inviting parents to attend interviews on Thursday July 29, by which time all reports should have been received.
We will also be inviting all parents to give us some feedback on the new report formats so that we can make any changes that are necessary before the final reports are issued in November and December.
Canteen Weekly Special
The special for the week Tuesday 8 June to Thursday 10 June is Butter Chicken with rice cost $3.00. Sausage rolls are now available at the canteen – cost $1.50
Calf Club
It is coming to that time of the year when we will have to start planning the Calf Club event for this year. There is to be a meeting in the staffroom on Tuesday June 8 at 7:30pm to discuss chicken orders and setting a date for this year’s event.
Chicken orders will need to be in to school by Wednesday 16 June. Chickens cost $4.50 each for pullets and $1 each for cockerels. Chickens will be available for collection during week 1 of Term 3, from school. This year, those students entering a chicken in the Calf Club competitions will need to complete a small series of tasks – mainly be prepared to answer questions put by the judge.
Greenie Awards
The name drawn from the box this week is Ebonie Cecil (Yr 8 Rm 12). Ebonie wins a canteen voucher.
Book Fair
Once again the Book Fair was very successful, thanks to marvellous parental support. We acknowledge with a special thank you those who donated books to the library. As well as donations we get back a percentage of the takings and our library received $804 worth of new books – even better than last year!. This is an amazing effort and well worth the time that was devoted to this event.

Library Manager
School Photos
Earlier in the term it was announced that the school photos would be taken in June. We have had to postpone that event and the new date is now Monday August 2. This year only class and team photos will be taken.
“That’s Life! Win a Carnival for you School” Competition
As a school we are collecting the tokens from the That’s Life magazine for this competition. The pink tokens can be found in issues from May 10th through to June 13th. The school that collects the most tokens will win a carnival for their school.
We would like to collect as many tokens as we can. Please take any tokens you collect to the office and drop them in the box.

We will be closing Issue 4 on the 8th June.
