Dear Parents
Dobbs family
It was with considerable sorrow that we heard last week of the accidental death of Paul Dobbs while he was participating in a motorcycle event on the Isle of Man. We extend our sympathies to Bridget, Eadlin and Hillberry at this time. A fund has been set up taking donations to support Bridget and the girls in the coming years. Donations may be made to the National Bank, account number: 06-0405-0201898-00
Respect
At this week’s assembly, the following students were presented with certificates recognising the respect they have demonstrated:
Davinia Green (Yr 13): displaying respectful attitude to her teachers and all her class mates.
Adele Hira (Rm 4 Yr 3) respecting her peers in and out of the classroom.
Vivian Robinson (Rm 5 Yr 3) waiting her turn, helping others and being polite.
Caitlin Rowell (Rm 2 Yr 1) always uses her manners and follow instructions well.
Canteen Weekly Special
The special for the week Monday 21 June to Thursday 24 June is Mince and Cheese Pitas cost $3.00
Change of clothes
With the advent of the real winter weather, it is important for students who are choosing to play outside where there is the possibility of getting wet and muddy to have a change of clothes. This will then avoid uniforms getting wet and muddy and be healthier, avoiding students having to sit around in wet clothes.
Mufti Day
There will be a mufti day next week on June 23. This is a day to support the group of students going on the Spirit of New Zealand Trophy voyage in August. The theme for the day will be “BLUE” and/or “ SAILING” in keeping with the group planned adventure. There will also be a sausage sizzle that day, raising money for the same cause.
The charge for both the mufti day and the sausages will be a gold coin donation, (That is a gold coin for wearing mufti and another gold coin for the sausage.)
Calf Club
With Calf Club approaching, it is appropriate to remind parents of the dates that are important for that event. All animals entered in the Calf Club must be born after 1 July. This applies to calves, goats and lambs. All animals are then divided into groups according to age, but there should be no calves at Calf Club born after the end of August, and all lambs and goats at Calf Club should be at least three weeks old. All animals entered in Calf Club Competition must be hand reared from within a week of birth.
Information about rearing animals for Calf Club is available on our website and from the school office.
We now have a confirmed date for our day – it will be Saturday October 16, with Group day this year at Harrisville on Thursday October 28.
Gala/Calf Club Day
Just a reminder of the Gala day meeting Tuesday 22nd June, in the library at school. Everybody interested in being part of the Gala/Calf Club day are welcome to attend. Any questions phone Nicky 09 236 8502.
Onewhero Area School Equestrian Team
Congratulations to our equestrian team who competed against 32 other schools in the North Island Secondary Schools Show Hunter competition at St Peters College, Cambridge last Sunday. They were placed in the top ten.
Greenie Awards
The name drawn from the box this week is AJ Ingram (Yr 2 Rm 3 ). AJ wins a canteen voucher.
School production
This year’s production, entitled “Run Rabbit Run” will be on stage on the evenings of June 29 and July 1. Entry is by door sales and prices are $7 per adult and $2 per child. This is a fun show, lasting approximately 90 minutes.
Safe Bus Behaviour
Last Tuesday a letter with a Bus Code of Conduct Agreement attached would have come home to all children travelling on the school buses. Please discuss this with your child/children and ensure that the signed agreement is returned to school by 2nd July 2010.

Expressions Of Interest
We are looking for team mates for the next season of tee ball. Last season we had an under 11 team, this coming season we look like to have more. We practice in Tuakau and play on a Saturday morning at Mountfort Park in Manurewa. We are wanting to see who is interested now so we can sort out how many teams we will have this coming season. Please give us a call if you or children are interested in playing tee ball and soft ball, and if you are interested in coaching or any other area. We have two parents ready to coach but any interest is always welcome.
Call Adrienne on 2369897.
