Dear Parents
Staffing
There are a few changes to school staffing for the beginning of Term 3. This week, we farewell Mr David Legge, who has been working in Room 9 and Miss Stacey Addenbrook who has been working in Room 7. We thank sincerely these two people for their help when we needed it and for the commitment and dedication to our school and students while they were here.
We also farewell Ms Christine Bidois, Student counsellor, who moves on to another position. Christine will continue to work here for one day a week as an interim measure. Again, we thank Christine for her valuable assistance in the time she has been with us and wish her well in her new position.
We welcome Ms Natalie Hewitt and Miss Alina Bleaken, both to teach in the Junior School. We also welcome Mrs Jeanette Eveleigh to work as Student Counsellor for two days a week and Miss Jayne Alexander to work as a teacher aide in the Junior School.
School production
We will be running a matinee performance of this year’s production, “Follow that Rabbit” on Friday morning (tomorrow). This will run from 9:30 to 11am. This performance is provided so that many of the younger students have a chance to see the show. The cost will be $2 per student. There will be supervised classes for those students who do not wish to attend.
Safe Bus Behaviour
A reminder that the signed Safe Bus agreement is to be returned to school by tomorrow.
Calf Club
The Annual General Meeting of the Calf Club will be held on Tuesday 20 July at 7:30pm in the staffroom at the school. All interested parents are invited to attend. The agenda will include:
• Election of officers
• Presentation of accounts
• Plans for Calf Club 2010
• Group Day plans, 2010
The Calf Club committee raffle. Tickets ($2 each) available now from the school office. The prize is to be a calf cover and a bag of milk powder.
Could all Group Day trophies please be returned to school by August 24. They need to be collected for taking to the next venue.
Reports and Interviews
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have decided to postpone the parent interviews until week 3 of next term, rather than conduct them in week 2. By doing this we are hoping to be able to provide a better service to our parent community.
The new date is now August 5, starting at 3:30pm. The process of organising the interview schedule will begin in week 1 next term. It is still intended to post the reports on Monday July 26.
Canteen Weekly Special
The special for the first week of Term 3 Monday 19 July to Thursday 22 July is American Hot Dogs cost $3.00
Mobile Phones
The BOT would like to remind all students/parents of the school rules regarding mobile phone.
Mobile Phones are not permitted at School. Any student found with a phone will have it removed and parents will be asked to collect it from the office. Should you require a student to have a phone for an emergency situation it can be handed into the office and the student may use it there out of class time.

Free Music Lessons!
There is a new opportunity to learn a rare and unusual instrument at Onewhero Area School. From the beginning of Term 3 students will be able to learn the Northumbrian Smallpipes in a lunchtime (Break2) session on Wednesdays.
Loan instruments are available. Classes will include basic music theory and some background information about the instrument.
Students need to make a commitment to practice for around ten minutes per day, regularly attend the classes and take care of the instruments.
Once this class is established an after-school class will be available for the wider community.
Those interested please contact Ms Capes Rm 14.
