Participation

At the assembly this week, the following students were presented with a certificate recognising their participation in school activities:

Jasmine Clark (Yr 13) for participation in all areas of school life and especially filling in as a marker at Mathex.
Quinton Keightley (Yr 10) for participation in all aspects of school life.
Caleb Eddowes (Yr 2 Room 4): participation in all areas of learning.
Kirby Taylor (Yr 2 Room 3): participation in all learning areas and trying his best.
Michael Paterson (Yr 3 Room 5): full participation in cross country practice.
Eythan Hingaia-Hoete (Yr 4 Room 8): participation in all library activities.
Alee Cowley (Yr 4 Room 8): participation in all library activities.

Year 10 Spirit of Adventure Team

Our SONZ challenge team are now on the water. They are: Erin Hancox, Waikohika Flesher, Sally Walden, Quinton Keightley, Tony Botica, Ethan Whitworth, Thomas Lancaster, Rebecca Stokes, Brett McCarthy and Monica Lovatt. As they left this week, they were anxious to send a sincere vote of thanks to the school PTA and to Custom Threadz of Pukekohe for their support for this great adventure.

School Gala/Calf Club

On this day we will be having a 2nd hand clothing stall. Any donations of clean good quality 2nd hand clothing can be left at the school office.

Mobile Dental Clinic

The Mobile Dental Clinic will be arriving on the school site on August 28, and the nurses will be here to attend to the dental needs of our students from August 30 for a period of about eight weeks.

Have you lost

A gold ring was found in the playground, if you have lost one please contact the office.

Student representative election for the Board of Trustees

The school is calling for nominations for the position of Student Representative on the OAS Board of Trustees.

All Year 9 students and above will be given nomination forms and are eligible to vote and stand in the election.

The voting roll is open for inspection at the school office and is available during break times. Additional nomination forms can also be obtained from the front office.

All candidates are invited to send the Returning Officer, Mrs Stokes, a brief statement about his/her abilities and reasons for standing for the election.

Nominations close at noon on 1st September 2010. Please put your completed nomination forms in the box provided at the front office.

The final house results of our cross country day are as follows:

Daffodil Day

The Student Council wants to support the NZ Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day this year. The school has agreed to have a mufti day to show our support. The theme for the day is yellow and green and the fee will be $2 per person choosing to participate. This will be on Friday August 27.

Canteen Weekly Special

The special for the week of Monday 23 August to Thursday 26 August is Beef Burgers cost $3.00

Greenie Awards

The names drawn from the box this week were Kate Tipping (Yr 4 Rm 6) and Jordan Stephens (Yr 4 Rm 6). Kate and Jordan win a canteen voucher each.

NCEA Fees

These need to be paid in full by 27th August. If you need to apply for financial assistance complete the form sent to you recently and return to Mrs Carter as soon as possible.

Students Driving to School

Parents wishing their child to drive to school must make a written request and provide evidence of a current licence. Students driving to school are not permitted to carry passengers at any time.
