Dear Parents
Senior students
All students in Year 11, 12 and 13 classes are on leave from this Friday afternoon. That means they only need to return to school to attend NZQA examinations and to attend Prizegiving.
The students have all been given a copy of the exam timetable. Parents who wish to check out or confirm exam times can phone the school. Students attending the exams must attend in correct school uniform as this is a school activity.
The Prizegiving will be held on Thursday December 9, starting at 7pm.
PTA
The sale of food and drink over the last few days (last Friday and at Athletics Day) has raised in excess of $1600 for the PTA funds. This money will go towards the recreation area planned for the students.
On Friday, following the Jump Rope for Heart event, parents are invited to stay on and watch a short presentation by our Year 10 Spirit of New Zealand students. This will focus on their trip and is a way to say thank you to the PTA for their contribution.
Following the presentation, parents will be taken on a brief tour of the school, showing off the community garden area and then showing off the area which is to be developed as a recreational area for students.
Jump Rope for Heart
This year we are actively supporting the Heart Foundation through the Jump Rope programme. This involves having students sponsored to participate in a programme of organised physical activity which will involve lots of skipping.
Forms will be coming home with students this week to enable students to begin the process of gathering sponsors.
In two weeks time, on Friday 12 November, the whole school will be involved in a tabloids type afternoon, which will honour the sponsorship commitment. In house teams, the students will complete a number of activities. While the sponsorship part of this programme is up to parents, all the students, regardless of the level of sponsorship, will be participating in the day as a part of our healthy fitness programmes.
The activities will start at about 1pm and run for the afternoon. Parents are welcome to attend.

The students identified last week for an Integrity award are:

Message from the Board of Trustees
The BoT would like to inform parents that there has been a change to the school uniform policy. As from February 2011, all students from Yrs 1 – 6 must now wear dark coloured shoes or sandals as part of the OAS uniform. No jandals or boots will be allowed from anyone.
Calf Club Trophies
Could all students who won trophies at calf club please return them to school so that we can get them engraved.
Swimming Pool
It has come to our attention that people have been accessing the swimming pool. Please note that the pool is currently being treated with chemicals etc and until it is officially opened accessing the facility is extremely dangerous and a severe health hazard.
