Dear Parents

Staffing for 2011

We are looking at an opening roll of around 430 students at the start of 2011 and we are delighted to be able to say that at this time we are fully staffed for the start of the year.

There will be three teachers leaving us at the end of this year. Mr Rowe is retiring, Miss Turmer is taking a year’s leave of absence and Miss Bleakin has completed her time with us. While there is as yet no appointment to the Deputy Principal’s position, the following teachers will start in February:

Miss Armstrong, working in the Junior School; Miss Swift, working in the Junior School; and Miss Talbot, working in the Middle School.

Apologies

Recently, a letter was sent out to all Yr 11, 12 and 13 students reminding them about forthcoming dates. Unfortunately, it contained an error. It should have read that Mrs Carter will be available from Monday 24th January for course confirmation. Please accept our apologies for this error and make the change on your letter.

Prize Giving

The school prize giving will be held in the school hall on Thursday 9th. The ceremony will start at 7pm and we would appreciate all students being at the hall by 6:45pm so that we can get everyone seated, ready to start on time. All students are expected to be in full and correct uniform. There will be a rehearsal at 1pm in the afternoon at which some certificate prizes will be presented.

Integrity Awards

The students identified last week for an Integrity award are:

Amelia Spinks (Yr 10) for consistently displaying school wide behaviour of a high standard.
Terri Williams (Yr 9) for consistently displaying school wide behaviour of a high standard.
Matthew Kiddle (Yr 9) for consistently displaying school wide behaviour of a high standard.

These certificates were presented at the assembly this week.

Canteen Weekly Special

The special for the last two weeks of school is Beef Nachos cost $3.50. This special is only available from Monday to Thursday.

Last day for the canteen is 9th Dec.

Library Amnesty Time

This is an appropriate time to check bookshelves and study desks and look under beds for any school library books. We welcome them back and no questions will be asked. Books can be dropped off at the school office.

AFS Exchange

The AFS organisation is seeking a host family for an exchange student arriving in NZ at the end of January for a six month stay. Daniel is 15 years old, comes from Germany and is a keen footballer. Anyone interested in embarking on the very worthwhile experience of hosting a student is invited to ring the school and speak to Mr Rowe.

Tuakau Christmas Parade

The school is again entering a float in the local parade on Saturday 4th Dec. If you can spare some time to help Mr Jordan put the float together on Saturday morning/early afternoon, this would be greatly appreciated.

Please contact Mrs Stokes in the office if you can help.
