Excellence Awards

At this week’s assembly, the following students were presented with certificates recognising excellence:

Hamish Simpson: Yr 5 Rm 9 - being a positive role model for the class
Rhain Strang: Yr 7 Rm 17 - mature focus in the classroom and on the sports field
Casper Gerrand: Yr 7 Rm 13 - positive work ethic
Lily Conradie: Yr 8 Rm 11 - positive attitude in class
Gaige Rouse: Yr 8 Rm 12 - Commitment to Mathematics

Parent Interviews

On Wednesday 17 March, we will be hosting the first of our parent interview sessions for 2010.

Could all parents please complete the form on the back of this newsletter and return it to school by Monday 8th March to request a time for an interview. Please note that interviews:

- are for ten minutes each
- start at 3:40pm and go through until 7:30pm
- senior (Yr 11-13) students are required to attend with parents
- please indicate more than one time slot as it is not always possible to give people their first choice
- Parents will be notified on Monday 15th by letter of the time you have been allocated

Greenie Awards

The name drawn from the box this week was Thomas Fyers. Thomas is in Room 12 (Yr8) and wins a canteen voucher.

Saleyard Duty

Work in the Saleyard Cafe and raise money for your children’s school expenses and activities. People needed for shifts in November. Contact Helen 2328883 or email.

Canteen Weekly Special

The special for the week Mon 8 March to Thurs 12 March is American Hotdogs–cost $3.00

School Swimming Sports

The school sports were held Thursday 25th February and were conducted in a friendly spirit of competition and fun.

The day went well and we were really pleased with the performance of many of the students and the overall level of participation.

Netball

Netball trials will be held as follows:

Year 5 and above: Friday 5th March 5pm and Monday 8th March at 5pm.
Yr3 and 4: at lunch times during next week.

A reminder that all netball forms must be in by Friday at 3pm.

River Group Sports

The River Group held their sports here on Tuesday, and again a great day was had by all. The results will be published next week.

Community Notices

Onewhero Rural Fire Force

Onewhero will be the host to this year’s Rural Brigades Competition. The event will take place on the school’s top field on Sunday March 14, starting at 9:30am. A number of teams will be competing this year demonstrating (in a competitive environment) the skills used in real fire situations. A great day for everyone – fun and entertainment for all the family!!

Onewhero Early Childhood Centre

Onewhero Early Childhood Centre A.G.M will be held at the centre on Monday 22 March at 7pm. We are now calling for nominations for all positions on the parent committee. As we are a community based centre we need parents to be involved in order to operate. All parents and other interested community members welcome. Light refreshments provided. OECC, Hall Road, Onewhero.

Caregivers

We are looking for a mature caregiver for one of the young boys on our therapeutic programme while he attends school in the area. He will live with you as part of your family.
