Parents Meeting: National Standards
On Thursday 25th March, at 7:30pm in the library, the school will be hosting a meeting to discuss National Standards and the impact they will have on your child’s learning.
As part of the evening, we will be inviting parent comment about the present written reports, and will be asking the question: “What do you want to see in the report?” We will also be covering the government requirements for written reporting.
The Government is requiring us to examine the way in which we report to parents, and we feel this is a great opportunity for you to have your input too. We look forward to seeing you all at the meeting.
IMPETIGO
There is an outbreak of impetigo in the area at the moment. If your child has a sore, insect bite or any break in the skin it is very important to cover it with a plaster. Please keep fingernails short and clean and ensure hands are washed and dried regularly. You can wash the sores with salty water (½ tsp salt to 1 cup water). If the sores become infected please see your doctor.
NOTE: Children can still come to school BUT sores must be covered.
Parent Survey
In the last few weeks, there have been discussions about the possibility of combining Calf Club with a gala day for this year. The idea is to make one major fund raising effort for the year at a time when we already attract a number of people to the school. Please think about this idea and give us your thoughts... we need to know how much support these is for such an idea.
Please complete the form here, or if you like, email your comments to us, or phone the school.
We would appreciate your comments by the end of this term - April 1.
Greenie Awards
The names drawn from the box this week were Aimee Rei (Yr 7 R 13) and Rachel Armitage (Yr 7 R 17). Rachel and Aimee each win a canteen voucher.
Canteen Weekly Special
The special for the week Mon 22 March to Thurs 25 March is Lasagne –cost $3.00
Trophies
We would appreciate it if all trophies presented last year could please be returned so that they can be put on display in the foyer of the school.
Newsletters
If you are not getting the school newsletter by your child you can get it by e-mail. Please let the office know your e-mail address. Also be aware that all articles for the newsletter must be given in to the office by 1.00pm on a Tuesday.

Committee Meeting Wednesday 24th March at 7pm
There is to be an unscheduled committee meeting to be held on Wednesday 24th March at 7pm. This meeting will be conducted at Onewhero Area School in the school library and is open to all interested persons. The executive committee apologises for this unapproved change, however the date previously set for our meeting clashed with important dates set by the Pukekohe Netball Association, and we appreciate your understanding in this matter.
A gentle reminder to all parents that the netball fees for the 2010 season must be paid by 24th March. If you are having any difficulties with this please contact Irene Kiddle on 0226336500.
The committee thanks you for your time and attention, and we look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

As parents we seem to just keep on paying for extracurricular activities. Fund raising for a school never does stop! We always need more things:
• sun sheltered areas
• more school activities for our children
• more outdoor activities
• more sports equipment
• more camp and class trip funds, text books…
• the list goes on!
However being a country school we have a very well established and organized Calf Club Day once a year!! It has the potential to make our school some funds without hitting us parents directly in the pockets!! We already have other family members attending this existing Calf Club Day. The above examples are just some of what we have in mind for a fun day out, and it could be our major annual fund raiser to take the pressure off us all throughout the year. We thought for maximum effect a Saturday morning would be more attractive. This could then create a whole day out for the whole family and wider community!!
We would appreciate it if you could take a moment out of your day to give us your thoughts on this proposal.
Please complete the form HERE.
Any comments, questions, or suggestions are welcome. If you would rather make contact via e-mail or phone, we would love to hear from you... Contact directly...
