Excellence Awards

At this week’s assembly, the following students were presented with certificates recognising excellence:

Bryn Jenkins (Yr 12): excellence in class work and the wide school activities
Waikohika Flesher (Yr 10): commitment and leadership in Kopapa
Thomas Lancaster (Yr 10): positive attitude to all his studies
Nick Simpson (Yr 8 Rm 11 ): consistent high level of application
Alesha Guard (Yr 7, Rm 17): a high standard of effort and attainment
Ella-Grace Hira (Yr 5 R3): always on task and an excellent role model for others
Kate Tipping (Yr 4 R6): always on task and an excellent role model for others
Sarah Greaves (Yr1 R2): gives her best in everything she does

Franklin Zone Swimming

In last weeks newsletter in the Year 7/8 competition there were some misprints. It should have read:

Thomas Aston-Brien: 3rd 50m freestyle,100m freestyle and the 50om breaststroke
Alesha Guard: 3rd open 50m butterfly
The girls relay team of Maia Thackham, Kristi Spicer, Ceilidh Jenkins and Georgia Morrow was placed 3rd
The boys relay team was placed 3rd in both the freestyle relay and the medley relay. The boys team was Danny Makara, Wetere Pompey, Matthew Henderson and Thomas Aston Brien.

Apologies to the students who had their names missed out.

Swimming Pool

This is a reminder to let all pool users know that the swimming pool season closes on Thursday 1st April 2010 at 3.00pm. You will be unable to access the pool after this date.

If you are not getting the school newsletter by your child you can get it by e-mail. Please let the office know your e-mail address. Also be aware that all articles for the newsletter must be given in to the office by 1.00pm on a Tuesday.

“Children at Play” Before & After School Care will begin operating out of Onewhero Area School as soon as we have enough interest to support the programme.

3 programmes are offered by this independently owned and operated company:

(1) Before School session 7 – 8am
(2) After School 3 – 5.30pm (or 6pm) at a cost from $5 per hour, and 10% discount for 2 or more kids from the same family
(3) Holiday Programme will also run from the 6th - 16th April at a cost from just $3.60 per hour and same family discount applies

I AM FREE for Autumn at Auckland Museum

With autumn here and the temperature dropping, it's about time to explore the fabulous Auckland Museum.

Throughout autumn Aucklanders will receive free entry to the museum with proof of residence. Of course, kids are always free. School holiday activities include a BioBlitz, Crochet Sea Garden, The Dangerous Museum for Boys and Girls and more. Plus, spend a minimum of $20 at the Museum cafe and receive a free regular sized coffee. (Valid 6 - 16 April upon presentation of this newsletter)
